At the beginning, Bagong Sirang was still unknown because of its full shrubs and guava trees. On the half of the place belonged to Catagbacan and the other half is on the sitio of Cabcab. The first people who lived here were Anselmo Canada and Marcelo Cantalejo, who are brothers. Later on, people from other places moved to the place and built their houses so far apart. Then they organized a celebration called “Aurora” – a novena which they sing around the place during May. With this, they also work together in the farms.

The place was formed of two groups – people living in the place that belonged to Catagbacan that was headed by Amando Lumbao Sr. and the other one was headed by Marcelo Cantalejo. Later on, the place grew bigger. Houses were built closer to each other. People were not contented that their place belongs to two barrios, so they made a resolution to make it one. With their desire and efforts made, the resolution was approved. They named the place Bagong Sirang for the reason that it was the newly created barrio in town that came from two separated barrios. Bagong Sirang was derived from the “Bagong” which means new and “Sirang” from the shining barrio. When the local election was held, Pedro Cantalejo, Sr. was elected as their barrio Captain.
